2024 Australian Pickleball Championships
The Australian Pickleball Championships is the largest gathering of pickleball players in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2023 over 700 competitors competed in Blacktown at the Australian Pickleball Championships. In 2024, we hope to eclipse 1000. The Australian Pickleball Championships brings together players of all ages and skills and offers inclusive opportunities for able-bodied and players with disabilities, physical or intellectual, to compete alongside and with some of the best homegrown and international talent. The event has a real festival vibe and is the culmination of State Championship events offered in the year leading up to. The event offers maximum participation with players competing in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team formats.

Promiseland Festival

Sail Paradise
The Southport Yacht Club's spectacular high summer offshore sailing regatta, Bartercard Sail Paradise, will be set between Main Beach and the Queensland and New South Wales border. A three-day event with magnificent racing will be staged on the beautiful ocean waters off the Gold Coast’s golden beaches, allowing spectators on the shore to be enthralled by the closeness of the racing and the blaze of colour that will come from the yachts’ many and varied spinnakers. The festivities continue onshore daily Race Results and Live Entertainment at Southport Yacht Club’s Main Beach Clubhouse, where competitors and guests can also enjoy the nightly food and beverage specials in the stunning Waterfront Restaurant and Bars. Beaudesert Milky Way Masterclass 2024
Do you want to learn night photography to capture the beautiful Milky Way? Join multi-award-winning photographer David Magro for a night under the stars! Beginners and enthusiasts are welcome. The Masterclass takes place in a classroom before spending the night photographing the stars. You will leave with beautiful photographs. Most cameras can photograph the Milky Way and galaxies. Borrow one of their cameras on the night. Masterclass details will be provided upon booking . The Masterclass venue is the Beaudesert Bowls Cluband the amazing nearby dark sky photography location will be at Wyaralong Dam, directions will be provided on the night. During this Masterclass, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to photograph the Milky Way and the night sky. You will also gain insights into composing your photographs in low-light conditions and discover techniques to produce clear, noise-free images. Additionally, you will explore the art of seamlessly capturing breathtaking panoramas and acquire valuable knowledge for planning your future night photography sessions. Furthermore, the Masterclass will cover mastering effective editing techniques using the Milky Way Masterclass Suite. Plus receive access to the Milky Way Masterclass Suite learning tutorials guides and the Facebook support group, David Magro Masterclass. Photographing the stars have never been easier.

Following lunch, head over to HOTA Gallery for informative talks and tours led by educators, centred around the ongoing exhibition program and works from the HOTA Collection. Experience an immersive educational journey, unlocking the wonders of the arts and the behind-the-scenes magic. Suitable for grade 3 to 12 and all arts subjects. Once you've booked, our team will work with you to tailor the tour to your subject areas. Places are limited. With 1300 songs, 135 live shows and close to 60 homegrown and international artist across 15 stages, Groundwater Country Music Festival (CMF) 2023 delivered a massive 10 year celebration that will go down in history. Waru - Journey of the Small Turtle
WARU - JOURNEY OF THE SMALL TURTLEUnder the star-illuminated skies of the Torres Strait, a green turtle navigates her way back to the beach where she was born. The season has started, the turtles are returning to nest, and soon the island will welcome a new generation of hatchlings - amongst them, our small turtle friend, Migi! In Bangarra’s first dedicated work for children, join our heroine Migi as she undertakes a journey of discovery and survival. A contemporary saltwater Lagaw Kazil (Island Children) story inspired by the totemic system of the green turtle, Waru - Journey of the Small Turtle is an interactive and immersive introduction to Torres Strait Islander culture and dance for 3-7-year-olds. Created by Stephen Page, together with Hunter Page-Lochard and Bangarra alumni Dancers and Choreographers Sani Townson and Elma Kris, Waru provides teachers, parents and caregivers with a unique opportunity to open up conversations about climate change, caring for the environment, and the traditional cultural values of respect and reciprocity. Waru – journey of the small turtle has been generously supported by the Girgensohn Foundation, the Knights Family Jabula Foundation and the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund – an Australian Government initiative. This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
